Voynuk Şücaeddin Mosque

The interior of a historic mosque, where lighting had to sit quietly within the existing architectural language. The form of the fixtures, the surface finish and the suspension system were deliberately kept traditional in character.

Our Design Approach

In the historic Voynuk Şücaeddin Mosque in Fatih, the lighting had to behave like a quiet servant within the centuries-old interior. The suspended chandelier system was installed at a low level in a way that respects the original proportions of the mosque; it provides even, shadow-free illumination at congregation level while being kept at a brightness that does not disturb the hand-painted decoration on the dome and wall surfaces. The colour temperature was chosen as warm white, showing the stone and timber texture exactly as it is.

Light in a Place of Worship

In mosque lighting our priority is even distribution across the prayer rows and comfortable illumination sufficient for reading the Qur'an. The chandelier units were fitted with diffusers that prevent glare; the calligraphy panels and the mihrab were brought forward with narrow-beam concealed accents. Energy efficiency was taken as a principle for five-times-daily use: LED sources work invisibly inside the classical chandelier form.

Working in a Historic Building

Installation was resolved through the existing suspension points without drilling a single new hole in the structure; all cabling was routed along invisible paths. Every detail was documented in line with the sensitivities of the foundation and the conservation board. For maintenance, the chandeliers were fitted with a pulley system so they can be lowered.

Process and Warranty

As in every project, the process began with a survey: the space was measured, sample units were submitted for approval, production was completed in our workshop and installation was carried out by our own team. All fixtures were delivered with long-life LED sources and easy-to-maintain standard lamp holders and access details. After handover, a commissioning visit fine-tuned the light levels under real conditions of use; our products are covered by warranty against manufacturing defects.
