Surp Krikor Lusavoriç Church

Lighting for the interior of a historic church, where every intervention had to respect the existing structure. The fixtures were developed in keeping with the historic character of the space and installed with minimal impact on the building.

Our Design Approach

Surp Krikor Lusavoriç Church in Kuzguncuk is a heritage building that must be protected, and every step of the lighting intervention was taken with that in mind. Elegant chandeliers descending along the nave were positioned according to the order of the liturgy; the apse and the icons were lit with narrow-beam accents of low ultraviolet content that will not fade their surfaces. The colour temperature was chosen in a warm tone close to the tradition of candlelight, strengthening the spiritual atmosphere of the space.

Sensitive Work in a Heritage Building

The work was carried out without a single injury to the historic fabric: existing suspension points were used, cabling was routed along invisible paths, and every detail was documented in line with conservation principles. The chandeliers were fitted with lowerable systems for maintenance. Light levels were programmed for different usage scenarios such as liturgy, visits and concerts, giving the building a flexible lighting infrastructure for both worship and cultural events.

Materials and Details

Brass bodies and hand-blown glass refer to the building's own tradition of candlesticks and chandeliers. Every unit was produced individually in our workshop; the surface finishes were kept at a brightness appropriate to the age of the space — new, but unassuming.

Process and Warranty

As in every project, the process began with a survey: the space was measured, sample units were submitted for approval, production was completed in our workshop and installation was carried out by our own team. All fixtures were delivered with long-life LED sources and easy-to-maintain standard lamp holders and access details. After handover, a commissioning visit fine-tuned the light levels under real conditions of use; our products are covered by warranty against manufacturing defects.
