Konyalı Mosque

Mosque lighting calls for even, respectful light at prayer level together with a dome fixture that carries the volume above. The scheme was developed through engineering work that considered suspension points and maintenance access as much as appearance.

Our Design Approach

The aim in the Konyalı Mosque project in Zeytinburnu was to establish even, respectful and calming illumination throughout the prayer hall. Beneath the main dome, a large ring chandelier bringing a contemporary reading to a classical form provides homogeneous light distribution at congregation level. The side aisles and the women's gallery were supported with secondary chandeliers and wall lights at the same colour temperature as the main space, while the courtyard facade was completed with exterior lighting that lends elegance to the silhouette after evening prayer.

Light in a Place of Worship

Shadow-free, glare-free illumination across the prayer rows is the foundation of mosque lighting. Opal diffusers were used in the chandelier units; the mihrab and minbar were emphasised with narrow-beam accents. Separate brightness scenarios were programmed for sermon and preaching times. Given intensive use five times a day, the whole system was built on a low-consumption LED infrastructure, and running costs fell markedly compared with classical fixtures.

Installation and Maintenance

Installation was completed between prayer times without disrupting the running of the mosque. The chandeliers were fitted with lowerable suspension systems for maintenance, and cabling was routed along invisible paths. All metal surfaces were hand-finished and given a protective coating for long life.

Process and Warranty

As in every project, the process began with a survey: the space was measured, sample units were submitted for approval, production was completed in our workshop and installation was carried out by our own team. All fixtures were delivered with long-life LED sources and easy-to-maintain standard lamp holders and access details. After handover, a commissioning visit fine-tuned the light levels under real conditions of use; our products are covered by warranty against manufacturing defects.
